Children’s Hospital and Medical Center Public Art Project

CHMC Interactive Sculpture opportunities

Option #1,   Interactive “Village Tree” on the wall with additional elements nearby.  A tubular steel tree form with wood and polished metal panels and transparent paints over iridescent surfaces. Hoops can be spun, leaves swing back and forth in a pendulum motion and sections can tilt slowly. Hidden activators can move birds and animals high in the branches.

“Journeys from Center” Denver Public Schools, Emily Griffith Campus, Denver, CO. Blue transparent films allow light from above to shine through.

Like raindrops on a pond. Rippling circles expand overhead…

“Journeys“ is activated by students in the lobby. A performance piece in the lobby of the huge building on Lincoln St. in Denver.

Option #2 An overhead, moving sculpture that is brightly lit by reflective light. It glides and reacts to the input of the Medical Center visitors by touch from a sidewall activation device or is electrically moved by the input of motion sensors that read the presence of the people in the room below.  Delicate and gentle motion is desired in both cases. The artwork overhead is a source of light and color and an interaction between the building and its visitors.
